Being Targeted

I had another birthday and I am doing OK.

I woke up this morning (always a good thing) and reached for my iPad to look for some good news to start my day. As I perused the headlines, I noticed the ads on the right hand side.  The first one was for a funeral home, the next was for wrinkle cream and the last one was about the five signs of a heart attack.  Here I was hoping to start my day off on a positive note.  However, I might look into that wrinkle cream as it does promise me that I will look 10 years younger with a face as smooth as a baby's tush.

  2. I read on the other day, stop washing our hair in the shower, it's the volumizing shampoo making us fat as it rinses off and runs down.

  3. Happy birthday and funny photo and caption.
Hey, we get phone calls on our land line that begin "hello senior" and "offering free walk in bath tubs." I wonder how they figure out we are seniors.

  6. Happy birthday - and thank you for the gift of laughter you gave us. Shouldn't it be the other way round?

  7. The older I get, the less I look in mirrors and the more I try to forget my age. I've come to the point where I look my best at a distance of fifty yards, in a heavy fog (*sigh*).

Belated Happy Birthday! I hope your day was filled with warmth, happiness, and blessings - and may they continue throughout the year.

    1. I love your line about 50 yards in a heavy fog, Jon. There are days when we all want to avoid our reflection.

  8. Happy birthday. I woke this morning to news that one in three people back in the UK live in poverty! Oh that the really poor should live in such poverty; I bet they'd think they were in heaven.

  11. Hello Arleen:

Many, many happy returns of the day. Ignore all the advertisements. You are your own person, highly individual and full of character and with an enormous joy for living and life. Keep with that and forget the rest.

  13. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! (And many moooooore...)

Those targeted ads do get a bit annoying, don't they? It's gotten to where I wouldn't be surprised to see an ad for a cold remedy as soon as I sneeze. As it is, I'm about sick of those darned belly fat ads...

  14. Happy Birthday!

The net knows way too much about us. I don't think the gov't needs to spy on us, they just need to contact the spammers. I loved the comic. Thanks!

    1. The fact that governments go to Google for information makes you wonder as to who is more powerful.

    1. Google know all and that should make us all disconcerting, Jenny. Because of your post, I looked up that place in Austria that you wrote about today so maybe my targeted ads will be more pleasant now.

  18. I never did use moisturizers, but started buying them. I figured just have them in the cabinet might work through osmosis. I started opening them last week and found a lot of thickened, dried up, yellowed, and craggy moisturizers. If they can't keep themselves from crinkling, how could they have helped ME?

    1. Good point! However, I will continue to hold out hope for creams, moisturizers. I also believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.

  19. Hi Arleen,

Belated birthday wishes. You shall be fine after that rather somewhat disappointing start to your day as you noted the ads. Never mind, I shall splashed hot coffee on my man boobs aka moobs :)

    Take care and smile :)

  21. Happy Birthday, Arleen. I don't worry about my wrinkles any more; I've realised they are there for a reason...they act as river courses for my tears when I feel like shedding some! lol

  23. Happy birthday! I hope your day is filled with all your favorite things!

When I read your post I immediately thought it would be a great intro to a series titled: You Know You're A Baby Boomer When... Thanks for the laugh...it was a great way to start the day.

  24. Happy birthday! I'd sing, but I wouldn't want to offend your ears!

I tried using Preparation H to erase the wrinkles because I had read that's what the stars use, but all it did was make me feel like a giant a*shole. Live and learn!
