Me, Myself and I

It's a real November day here, but I am doing OK
Austan of Austanspace  was kind enough to think of me with this Versatile Blogger Award.  Since I have lived a life that some may say rivals that of any of the Kardashians, I want you to be prepared with all your oohs, and aahs.

So here I go with my list of 10 things you might not know about me:      (Sound the trumpets!)

1. My spice cabinet contains seasonings that I have had for over one year, well, maybe two, some might be three, but I am positive they are all less than 10 years old.  When did A&P go out of business?

2.  I have two sizes of clothes in my closets. They are my pre-Weight Watchers and goal weight wardrobes.  I "bounce" between them every two years.

3.  I am an introvert in an extrovert's body.

4.  As a child,  I was a thumb sucker.  I was contented then. When I am older and frail and have been put into a home, I hope they give me a Binky.

5.  I have a love/hate relationship with Christmas.  The love part is having my family around, the hate thing is putting up the damn tree that I have to have perfect.  I keep adjusting things till the day I put it away.

6. I used to be covered in freckles, now my skin doctor refers to them as "maturity spots".   Sounds better than liver spots.  Like the notches on a belt,  my hands are beginning to show the notches of my life.

7.  In the past few years I have grown 2 new breasts, one under my right arm, the other on the left.  The newer ones are definitely perkier than what  the originals have become.

8.  I love sad, touching movies, especially old ones like Beaches, Fried Green Tomatoes, and  Steel Magnolias. I went through a half a box of tissues watching The Notebook last week.

9. I am still close to my first friend who I first met at age 3.

10.  Hard to believe, but I have never worn a thong.

  1. Hello Arleen:
Congratulations on your award. Versatile, most certainly. It is always a surprise when we visit.

And, what an interesting and eclectic range of facts.....at least, we trust they are facts.....are you quite sure about the thong?!!!

  2. Oh my goodness we have a lot in common! teehee

    Number 1, 2, 5, 7, 8, and 10!

    Good to find that out!

  3. Dear Jane and Lance,
As far as the thong goes, I am asking to be burried in one.

Sandi, Lets do #10 next Wednesday.

  4. thanks for the laugh and I can relate to too many of those things!linda

  5. LOL! (I do the tree adjusting too) :D

  6. Sadly, I can relate as well. I have 2 new breasts AND I used to be a thumb sucker. Ah dear! What's to be done!

  7. Congrats on the award. Yeppers here on 1/2/3/6/7/and10.

  8. The thong trend still puzzles me. As kids, didn't we always pull at our underpants to get them out of there? Now we are supposed to want to wear something that actually goes in there? Puzzling. Great revelations.

  9. Arleen - I knew that you were so like me - I also have maturity spots too - never worn a thong for that matter either. Hey and lots of congratulations on your Versatile Blogger Award

  10. Dear Arleen,

    yes. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 10--I'm with you on these.
With regard to #9--I've had a dear friend since 2nd grade. We haven't seen
one another since the summer of 1958--so 53 years. But we still visit on the phone and giggle!

    I loved your list.

  11. Arleen,

I can so relate to almost all of you 10 issues......oh, did I say issues? I mean items. Congratulations. I love reading your posts. Bonnie

  12. You made me have a happy face. I also have clothes of various sizes. Being retired, I figure that I am saving money, and will always have something that will fit. Not in style? Doesn't matter, people just say "What do you expect at her age!" Chatty Crone is our mutual friend. Drop by for a visit.

  13. #7 made me laugh out loud. :-) Nicely done.

I wore a thong once. ONCE. "Oh, you'll get used to it," they say. I say, who wants to get used to a pair of underwear up their butt?!!

  14. Sometimes I think good movie making ended in the 80's and 90's. So fun learning more about you. And I hear you on the spice rack:) Congrats on your award!

  15. I like that you're still close to your childhood friend. And I'm laughing at all the others!

  16. Some good stuff. I have so many herbs and spices, there's a distinct possibility a few may qualify as antiques. As for thongs, I love how some gals try to tell you how "comfortable" they are. Don't you believe it!!!!!!

  17. Congrats on the award! Loved learning more about you. You crack me up! Sigh...The Notebook...best movie ever.

  18. I liked your top 10 list. It's always interesting when you have to think about things that you hope nobody knows about. Mine is a sock fetish. I wish I could have a brand new pair of 100% cotton white crew athletic socks everyday.
