Flying Fish

We are having some beautiful days around here and I am doing OK.

It is time to plan my 4th of July extravaganza, although in recent years the ganza in me has slowed down a bit.  However,  I will do my best for my guests and try to make it a fun day. All the ingredients that are really needed though are good friends and family to just get together and enjoy the time we have in each other's company.  Of course, a sunny, not so hot day would certainly add to our comfort and mood.

I plan on having some good food.

Party spread

Some summer cocktails for the adults

Frosty Raspberry-Lime Margarita

and something for the kids

We will sit under my willow tree, talk about old times and new, laugh, overeat and watch the younger generation play some yard games.  The older generation will only get out of their chairs to replenish. This is as it should be.

And then right before the fireworks display, I will bring out my special surprise.

The children will love it, some who have enjoyed the cocktails a little too much might not notice and others will think I have gone completely bonkers.  What the heck, it looks like fun.  Now to decide which creature to rent, shark or angel fish.

    1. I saw them advertised in our paper yesterday by a local entertainment/party rental company. I am calling tomorrow morning and if reasonably priced, will rent one for my picnic.

    1. Strawberry daiquiri or maybe some nice fruity sangria, Bonnie?

As long as those who have had one too many don't want to take a ride on it, all will be OK.

  5. Dear Arleen, your gathering sounds so inviting. I'm sure everyone there will have a wonderful time and when those "air swimmers" appear your home will have the reputation of the "funnest" place in town! Peace.

By the way, where do you rent them????

  6. At a local party rental company. I have spent some time investigating these fish today and based on reviews and comments on them, I am having second thoughts about renting them. You can also buy a version of them on Amazon. Check "Air Swimmrs".

    2. I bought one instead. It is probably not as well made, but the cost of the rental plus the person to work the remote control was very high. Now if we can figure out how to put it together and make it work without it blowing up, we will be in business. Also, the grandkids will have fun making it fly. Even if it fails to do what it says, we will have some good laughs.

If it works out, I will post pictures.

  7. That is wonderful. My grandkids would be impressed. I'd prefer angel fish, but I bet the kids want sharks!

  8. Your party sounds awesome, and that spot under the willow, THE place to be. Love those air swimmers! Our grandchildren would go nuts over them. If you rent one, you'll have to take some shots to show us some of the reactions it gets. Should be a real hoot.

Great to be back visiting some of my favorite blogs. Will eeeeease into the blogosphere today and start posting on Wednesday. Guess that means recess is over.

  15. Those sharks are amazing! I haven't seen them over here (maybe I don't look in the right places). I'd love something like that for my parties. I

Your party on 4 July sounds as if it will be absolutely brilliant. I am sure everyone is looking forward to it already,

Yes, come to think of it, we're having a party on 15 July and I will check out and see if we can find any of those flying fish here.

  16. You can buy them on Amazon. You will also have to buy the helium, which has become very pricey. Toys r Us also sells them. Theirs are a better reviewed brand and the price reflects that.

  20. What a marvellous extravaganza you describe. Complete with some enticing photos. Would you be so kind as to send some decent weather to Britain. I'm getting tired of going to my garden via a row boat :)
All the best for your July 4th celebrations.
Take care and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

    1. I have heard that GB is having a really wet season. We just lucked out this year, and even though we have had two heat waves, we are enjoying what I think, is a great weather situation. Hopefully everything will dry up there soon.
