My Retirement - What happened to "Less is More"?

Getting tired and run-down but I'll be OK

Plans gone astray.

View the Headaches and Migraines Slideshow PicturesThis was my year to cut back on things, less planting, less planning, less anxiety, less, less, less of everything.  Easier said than done!  I am sitting here, still anxiety ridden, still have too many plants to care for, and have plans coming out the wazoo.  How did this happen.? After much introspection, I realized it is who I am, and at this point of my life there little chance that I will change, but I need to get a handle on things.  So I am going to take a break from blogging for a few weeks and sit back and relax, relax, relax.  I will check in on all the blogs that I have come to enjoy and look forward to reading, I just won't compose until I have something to say.   However there are so many good things on my plate and new adventures to experience that I am sure in a few weeks I will be back and feeling healthy.

Thank you all for reading my nonsense. I am so appreciative to my followers for taking the time to visit my blog.  I will see you in September, if not before.

  1. Take a well deserved break...we'll all be here when you are ready to return.

  2. Hello Arleen:
We were very saddened to read this post on account of your feeling rather low and generally overwhelmed by things. It is, of course, not easy to change the person you are, but it is a very good idea to take time to try to see everything in proportion and certainly not to worry about those things which are beyond our own control. Always remember, we all have the rest of our lives to get things done so what is not achieved today is not really so important.

We do hope that you will try to have a relaxing summer and will look forward to your return as and when you are ready.

  3. Thank you Jayne, Lance and Delores, I will be fine when I can clear myself of these cobwebs. I will be checking in with your blogs to see how things are going with you and hope that you all have a grand summer.

  4. Will miss your posts, but I understand, life can get a little hectic at times. Is there really such a thing as too many plants? Well maybe too many weeds -- I'll concede that. No, in all fairness, get rid of the plants that don't bring you joy, keep those that do.

My wife and I both went through some of the same stuff this past spring - way too much on our plates and no happy peaks anywhere in sight. We were able to sell one of our major headaches (a rental house) and get ourselves back on track financially somewhat.

I actually found blogging was one of my happier uplifting things to do. I recommend while you are relaxing to get a copy of Gretchen Rubin's Happiness Project, and just read a chapter at a time - let it sink in, some may apply, some may not. Even if you can get a point or two that improve your life, you'll be ahead.

I'm not going to pretend that things will be all roses tomorrow, but you do sound pretty down. Have you got someone you can talk/rant to? Sometimes a good listener is what we all need.

  5. Thank you MG, I will take some of your advice. Things are not as bad as I may have sounded; I am just not feeling too well, but I will bounce back.

  6. Rest, re-coop, read, and realize how wonderful life is, how blessed you are. Take good care of every part of yourself. See you soon.
